Who Owns Terms
Last updated: September 29, 2026
1. About Who Owns
Who Owns is a platform where products can hold and share a position for a country. These terms explain how to use the site and its country-claim process.
2. Eligibility and accounts
Public pages can be browsed without an account. Founder actions require an authenticated account. Use an email address you control and keep access to your sign-in method.
3. Products and submissions
Submit accurate product information and content you have the right to provide. A submission may be reviewed before it can be published or used for a country claim. Approval is not entry into an official tournament.
4. Country claims and protection
Owning a country on Who Owns means your product is the current holder of that country on this platform. It does not give you legal, governmental, geographic, trademark, or real-world ownership of the country.
There is one current product holder per country. A country holder may change through verified payment, a valid Launch Pass claim on an open country, or another approved platform event. Another eligible product may take the position later. A product may hold up to five countries, and claim history remains part of the platform record.
A platform position does not promise traffic, sales, customers, exposure, virality, or exclusivity outside Who Owns. A holder may share available claim and map pages.
5. Pricing and payments
Prices are shown in US dollars. The standard first claim for a country starts at $5. Each later successful claim increases that country's next price by $2. An eligible founder may use their one Launch Pass for a free claim on an open country. The current standard price shown during preparation is checked again at checkout and may change before payment.
Payment is handled through the checkout provider when payment service is available. A paid claim settles only after payment is verified; a valid Launch Pass claim settles under the open-country rules. A country changes holder only after the platform records the claim.
6. Checkout holds and protection
Starting checkout temporarily holds the country for up to five minutes. If checkout expires without a verified payment, the hold ends and the country is not transferred. A successful claim receives six hours of protection from another claim. After protection ends, another eligible product may take the position under these platform rules.
7. Refunds and payment problems
A payment-provider redirect is not proof that a country changed holder. The platform checks payment before settlement. If payment is verified but the country cannot be assigned, a refund may need to be processed. Payment and refund states can take time to reconcile; no instant-refund timing is promised.
Do not submit another payment while the status is still being checked. Visit Help if a payment status does not resolve.
8. Public content and sharing
When a product is approved and published, information selected for public display may appear on product profiles, country pages, historical share pages, and current product maps. Public claim pitches and platform history may also be shown. Founder sign-in details and contact fields are not public unless a founder explicitly enables a public contact field.
Sharing controls create links or open third-party social services. What you post on those services is governed by their own terms.
9. Acceptable use
Do not impersonate others, submit unlawful or infringing material, commit fraud, post malicious links, or manipulate or abuse platform systems.
10. Availability and changes
Features, prices, and availability may change. The platform may pause a claim or checkout to verify current eligibility, price, protection, or payment state. A displayed position is subject to the current platform rules.
11. Account and content removal
Founder controls may let you edit product details or make a product private. Past country claim events remain in platform history; public identity details may be masked when a product is no longer public. There is no self-service account-deletion control. Contact support for an account or content request; timing and deletion cannot be guaranteed here.
12. No guarantees
Who Owns does not guarantee uninterrupted availability, business results, audience growth, sales, customers, or exposure. Country positions apply only within this platform and do not create rights over a real country or territory.
13. Contact
For account, claim, payment, refund, or privacy questions, use the Who Owns Help page.
